2016 Kawasaki Z800 - First Ride

Middleweight naked sport bikes have cemented themselves in our hearts thanks to a combination of performance, raw edginess, and practicality (sort of). After a great deal of success in the European markets, Kawasaki is bringing the Z800 stateside for us hungry Americans to nibble on in 2016.

This bike is poised to compete primarily against the Yamaha FZ-09, Triumph Street Triple R, and MV Agusta’s Brutale 800, but does the Kawasaki Z800's 806cc liquid-cooled in-line four cylinder have gusto to compete in a triple fueled field?

I'm going to live (hopefully not die) with the Z800 for the next month and dive into Kawasaki's relatively new middleweight street fighter for a full review.

By the time this is published, I will have had the Z800 for two days. So far, I can tell you it’s like that scene in the Matrix Reloaded where the Merovingian confesses his love for cursing in French—it’s like wiping your ass with silk. I love it.Okay, love is a bit strong out the gate, but I'm certainly pleased with the Z800 for the moment. Let's see if this relationship has the legs to become a legendary romance.
