Bad news for aspiring club racers and 250GP privateers everywhere: Yamaha will be making just 18 of its legendary TZ250 this year, and all are already spoken for. With no updates since 2003, and with such limited numbers being produced, it's conceivable that this will be the last run of TZ250s ever made.

For more than 30 years, the TZ250 has been the bike of choice for aspiring GP racers and more recently the fastest well-funded track day addicts. Its popularity is because of its speed, heritage and price, offering a competitive race bike once ridden by the greats for a little more than ¥2million. Its demise is yet another nail in two-stroke racing's coffin.
