Triumph announced four versions of the Triumph Tiger for 2015 at EICMA today: the XR, XRc, XC, XCx. Dang.

2015 Triumph Tiger

The different versions allow riders to more easily customize a bike to their individual needs. The XR/XRx models are targeted towards more road riding with light off-road use, while the XC/XCx models are for greater off-road intent. All models continue to use the 800cc inline triple engine. Fuel efficiency has been improved by 17%, which Triumph says translates to an increase to 65mpg. They calculate that amounts to potential 272 miles between fill-ups on the 5 gallon tank! All models also include traction control and ABS (which can be turned off), Ride by Wire throttle, adjustable rider seat heat and handlebatrs, and an improved fuel tank styling that channels hot engine air away from the riders legs.

The XR model has lightweight cast aluminum wheels and Showa suspension. The XC model has spoked wheels for rough terrain and WP suspension, which can be easily adjusted with a dedicated clicker at the top of the forks.

2015 Triumph Tiger Updates - EICMA 2014

The "x" models are a little more baller in in terms of some farkles and greater electronic control. They both boast hand guards, an adjustable windshield, cruise control, throttle maps, and three riding modes that allow greater control over the ABS and traction control. The throttle maps have 4 modes for different weather and riding conditions: rain, road, sport, and off-road. According to the press release, "The difference between the maps is given by the throttle opening against the butterfly position: the new engine delivers full power with all the maps, but the rider needs a different opening of the throttle to achieve the same response." The more curious feature is the different riding modes: road, off-road, and programmable rider mode. The road setting is mostly what you'd expect out of typical ABS controls. The off-road setting reduces the amount of ABS and traction control available so that the rider can have a certain level of slip. For the programmable rider mode, Triumph says, "this mode is fully configurable and allows the rider to select their chosen settings for ABS, Traction Control, and a choice of four x Throttle Maps independently. As an added safety measure, should the rider select a mode that requires ABS or Traction Control to be disabled, simply come to a stop and push the mode button and these features will be deactivated."
