Polaris has announced its 2017 Slingshot line-up, which includes a new premium SLR model, an expanded range of accessories, cockpit upgrades, and new colors for the brand's best-selling SL model.
The 2017 Slingshot SLR is the most premium model in the line-up. Key features include lightweight forged aluminum wheels, a 305mm-wide rear tire, Sparco touchpoints in the cockpit and a custom two-tone paint scheme. The Slingshot SLR is available in Orange Madness and Turbo Silver color schemes.
The Slingshot lineup also introduces two new colors to the SL lineup for 2017 – Sunset Red and Black Pearl – as well as upgraded features and vehicle enhancements.
The standard 2017 Slingshot has an MSRP of $21,999, while the Slingshot SL carries a $25,499 suggested retail price. Available in dealerships in August, the new SLR carry a $28,499 price tag.
"Slingshot's new 2017 line-up takes the vehicle to the next level,” said President of Polaris Motorcycles Steve Menneto. “With the new SLR, premium upgrades on the SL, and 31 new accessories... we are giving our customers more ways to personalize their experience and make Slingshot their own."
Like all Slingshot models, the SLR is constructed with a steel frame and powered by a 173hp 2.4-liter DOHC four-cylinder engine that drives the rear wheel via a five-speed manual transmission. All models feature an electronic stability control system and disc brakes with ABS.
Among the new Slingshot accessories is the new Slingshade...
Some folks call it a Slingshade; I call it a Kaiser shade.
The Slingshade is a removable sun shade designed to flow with the lines of the distinctively styled Slingshot. The panels also feature tinted windows that retain overhead views and help illuminate the open cockpit.
Other accessories include styling enhancements, tech and audio components, storage options, wind deflectors, riding gear, helmets, driving jackets and street wear. Most of the vehicle accessories are offered in a variety of factory color-matched options.
