Some of the most popular destinations for US motorcyclists are the country's more than 400 national parks, monuments, and recreational areas. And this week, as part of National Park Week, entrance to all parks is free.

National Park Week is a celebration of American heritage and the national park movement, which began in the United States. The event has special meaning this year, as 2016 also marks the centenary of the founding of the National Park Service.

National Park Week runs until Sunday, April 24th. The fee waiver includes entrance fees, commercial tour fees, and transportation entrance fees. Other fees such as reservation, camping, tours, concession and fees collected by third parties are not included unless stated otherwise.

Conveniently, National Park Week falls during the American Motorcyclist Association's "Go Ride Month," a reminder (as if you needed one) that motorcycling is the best way to go to work, go out, or just plain go.

The month is highlighted by a number rallies, get-togethers, long-distance challenges, racing events to see, and tours –– planned and unplanned –– on America’s scenic highways, byways and trailways.

Of the United States' 400 national parks, some 127 charge an entrance fee ranging from $3 to $30. Active-duty military personnel and disabled citizens can apply for free passes at any time of year.

If the weather still isn't quite motorcycle-friendly in your particular part of the world, don't fret. The National Park Service will be waiving fees this summer. Entrance will be free again on August 25th-28th as part of the National Park Service's birthday celebrations.
