MotoGP Announces 2027 Calendar. And It Raises Some Eyebrows

MotoGP released its 2027 calendar, and the inclusion of the Australian and Qatar GPs is interesting, given the controversy surrounding both events.

Recent leaks of the 2027 MotoGP calendar informed us that the Hungarian GP was no longer for this world, Thailand will host the first round, and as usual, the season will finish in Valencia. Now, the official calendar has been released and given us the news we've been waiting for about one round in particular.

The Australian GP, held at the Adelaide Circuit, is scheduled for November 12-14. That normally wouldn't raise any eyebrows, except for the fact that an injunction has been filed to prohibit the construction of the Adelaide Circuit. The Federal Court hasn't granted the injunction, so technically, there's no court order stopping the Adelaide Circuit project. However, the application is still being considered by the court, so adding official dates is a tad presumptuous.

To be fair, tickets aren't available to buy for the Australian GP yet, so we can't accuse MotoGP of too much wrongdoing. But the Adelaide round isn't the only event on the 2027 calendar that is a bit presumptuous. The second round on the calendar, after the Thailand GP, is the Qatar GP. Again, usually this wouldn't be something to comment on, but the Qatar GP has already been postponed this season due to uncertainty surrounding safety in the Middle East.

What do you think?

The Qatar GP was supposed to take place from April 10-12, but was moved to November 6-8. Other major motorsport events have pulled out of the area this year, including F1, WEC, and WRC, and there are rumors that the Dakar is in jeopardy, although the organizers say it will go ahead. The fact that MotoGP's organizers have included the Qatar GP doesn't concern me, but keeping it as the second round on the calendar is interesting.

Again, tickets for the Qatar GP scheduled for March 12-14 aren't currently available. But my question to you is, if tickets for either of these events were available to purchase right now, how confident would you feel pulling out your credit card?
