Are You Feeling Tired? Don't Worry, Yamaha Has Just The Exercise Program For You
Sitting too long can make anyone sleepy. Yamaha knows this, and that's why it encourages both its employees and all of us to get moving.
We've all felt it. That middle-of-the-day want for a nap is a strong urge. Chances are excellent that when you were little, you probably just had an afternoon nap baked into your everyday routine. Depending on where you live and what the local culture is like now, that may still be the case. If so, know that I envy you; who doesn't love a good nap?
Still, if you're feeling sleepy, there are a few things you can do to wake yourself up. One is, of course, relying on a cup of coffee or tea or your energy drink of choice to jolt a little more life into your veins and get your neurons firing the way they should.
Another good option, says Yamaha, is exercise. Not just any exercise, either; Rev Exercise. Yamaha Motorcycles are here to rev your heart; but Yamaha itself is here to also rev your body. Are you ready?
From the start, there are three different programs of Rev Exercise that Yamaha outlines. One is for factory workers, another is for desk workers, and the final one is for those who spend a long time riding motorcycles each day. If you work at Yamaha, this can mean working on different aspects of motorcycle development, but this can easily be adapted for those of us who don't work for Yamaha, as well.
Worried you don't have the right equipment? One of of the nice things about this system of exercises is that, for the most part, it's mainly about moving your body in specific and targeted ways. In some cases, some readily available everyday 'equipment' is needed; for example, a straight-backed chair like you might already be sitting in right now.
The main idea behind these exercises is to stretch you out, so areas prone to fatigue and soreness from repetitive motion and external stresses can feel better. When your body feels less tension, what's interesting is that your mind usually follows (within reason). Incorporating movement into your daily life, if you can make the time for it, can make a lot of things better. That's true whether you're riding your motorcycle, riding a desk, or standing on your feet all day.
Looking for a list of exercises so you can jump to the ones you want to do most? Hover over the "Rev Exercise" menu option at the top of Yamaha's page for a full, numbered list of all the exercises included, broken down by Upper Body, Lower Body, Chair, and Custom (the paths for Factory, Desk, and Motorcycle Riders). There are also accompanying videos on Yamaha's YouTube channel (though sadly, they're not in a handy playlist) if you prefer to see video demonstrations.
Happy destressing!
