BMW Just Teased An F 450 RR Entry-Level Sportbike
An adventure bike, a naked, and maybe now a sport bike? Entry-levels never looked so good.
Honestly, the world of entry-level motorcycles is getting so full and good, do we even really need medium or large motorcycles at this point? I mean, they're cheaper, lighter, often more fun, and can be way easier to stomach whenever you inevitably hit some clibbins and have to "lay'r down." But more importantly, and to emphasize the point, they're just as good, if not better, than their larger counterparts.
For the most part.
In recent years, entry-level everything has just gotten so damn good, with things like Royal Enfield's entire lineup, Triumph's 400 class, Kawasaki's new 500s, and a plethora of Hondas, KTMs, and others. Hell, even Harley-Davidson is getting in on the action here real soon. BMW, however, went from 0-100 real quick, as after teasing the F 450 GS, it introduced it, we rode it and found it awesome, and has already released a second model for the F 450 platform, the F 450 R.
The Bavarians, however, weren't done, and are seemingly teasing another F 450, which seems like a proper entry-level sportbike, and which the internet is already dubbing the F 450 RR. I think it needs an M in there, myself.
First off, I gotta say, I need BMW to lay off the AI sauce. The post, which appears on the brand's social media accounts, states that the picture was "enhanced with AI." You're BMW, dammit; hire a photographer or just get one of your talent-ass designers to put together a rendered image.
Second, I mean, it's clearly a F 450-based sportbike, right? The rear wheel is far too narrow to be anything above that weight and CC class, as does the body. The brakes, too, are far too diminutive to be on anything above 600ccs. And the front fairing, well, it looks like a shrunken M 1000 RR with wings and strakes, and aggression. So what you're left with is something we'd say is based on the F 450 platform, but with all the hallmarks of a proper sportbike. An F 450 RR. Or, better yet, an M 450 RR. Actually, I really like the sound of that.
Sounds...mean.
And it's coming soon, with the post stating that all will be revealed on October 15th, which means this week. So stay tuned, cause we'll have more of the upcoming entry-level sportbike when it breaks cover—we haven't seen any embargo, FWIW.
Most importantly, this BMW represents a pretty sizable chunk of the motorcycling community, and those would-be entry-level riders, as these smaller sportbikes are hugely popular. Royal Enfield and Triumph had their best year's ever because of their small-displacement motorcycles. And anecdotally, I've seen more folks on CFMoto's 450 SS's than any other motorcycle as of late, with all of them being young folks—God, I'm old. I can't wait to see what this bike is all about.
