Europe Is Treating Indian Motorcycle Well

Sales are up in a number of European countries.

Indian Motorcycle's sales in the Americas aren't likely what its new private equity owners would've hoped for when it purchased the brand from Polaris a year ago. Likewise, the current tariff war between the United States and, well, the entirety of the rest of the planet also isn't helping turn the sales tide. The economy is also not great for a brand that primarily sells heavy, expensive motorcycles usually marketed to Boomers.

All, however, isn't doom and gloom. And the bright spot is our allies across the pond, where Indian's sales have been shooting upward in a number of countries, including Romania, the United Kingdom, Germany, and Poland. Luckily for Poland, they're doing better than Germany, so historical precedent goes out the window for the better—It's a joke, people!

What aren't the double-digit sales increases nearly across all of Europe for Indian Motorcycle, which has to be putting its new brass and executives slightly more at ease. Better yet, the brand is gearing up for EICMA in Milan, where it's going to be showing what's up next, and why its European customers should be excited.

First things first, according to the brand, Indian Motorcycle's presence at EICMA will include an exhibit, where CEO Mike Kennedy will "present a business update and unveil the first wave of its MY27 news, while also celebrating the success of the Indian Wrecking Crew, which won the 2026 King of the Baggers Championship."

That last one is a fun dig, as the company's main rival in King of the Baggers, i.e., Harley-Davidson, just announced that it's set to leave the series it helped found with Indian. And, honestly, I agree with them, cause the series is lesser without Harley, and the reasoning that's been rumored to be why it left is, well, BS. But I digress.

The more important part of the announcement is how the brand is doing in terms of sales across Europe, which are, for the most part, seeing double-digit increases, with the brand's Scout motorcycle being the main point of entry for the company. Romania takes the top spot in that equation, seeing a 60% increase in sales, with Poland nabbing 52.6%, the United Kingdom seeing a 39.4% uptick, followed by the Czech Republic with 20.1%, Spain with 14.0%, Germany with 11.1%, and Sweden with a cool 7.9%.

Only Italy and France saw decreases, with -3.9% for Italy and -15.3% for France.

That's pretty damn solid for a smaller manufacturer, especially one that's seen tough times due to the aforementioned world issues. Kennedy seems bolstered by the news, however, stating, "We’ve seen increased sales in the majority of markets across Europe, as well as some standout performances in our younger territories such as Romania and Poland, which have significantly outperformed the market. The Indian Scout platform, in particular, continues to be a cornerstone of our lineup and is the market leader in the European mid-size cruiser segment, outselling comparable models from Harley-Davidson and Honda."

What do you think?

He added, "We have a long-term strategy centered on delivering an even better ownership experience for riders and stronger, more focused support for our dealer network, while continually improving our three platforms: Indian Scout, Indian Chief, and PowerPlus Baggers and Tourers. Indian Motorcycle is a proud American company, but we’re committed to ensuring our motorcycles are recognized globally as the best in their class. The momentum we’re seeing in Europe is a testament to that commitment."

As for what's next? EICMA, baby. We've only got a few weeks until that starts up, so stay tuned; more is definitely coming from the brand, and hopefully, it includes some surprises.
