Hey, If You Bought A KTM Steering Damper For Your Late-Model Super Duke, There's A Recall
Owners of 2020 through 2026 KTM 1290 and 1390 Super Duke Rs and Super Duke R Evos might want to know about this KTM PowerParts recall.
Are you the owner of a 2020 through 2023 KTM 1290 Super Duke R or Super Duke R Evo? If not, then are you the owner of a 2024 through 2026 KTM 1390 Super Duke R or Super Duke R Evo? If one of the bikes listed above can call you its owner, and you also purchased a KTM PowerParts steering damper, then you'll want to know about Team Orange's latest product recall.
If you currently have a KTM PowerParts steering damper with part number 16181T01E in your possession, no matter where you are in the world, then KTM is requesting that you contact your local authorized KTM dealer to have a recall service performed upon this part.
What's the issue, exactly? It appears to involve the application of threadlock to a screw on the steering damper. I'll quote KTM's recall directly here.
As part of KTM's ongoing quality monitoring and product development efforts, the screw connection of the steering damper has been further optimized to help prevent potential issues.
To ensure the highest standards of durability and rider confidence, KTM has introduced an improved specification for the steering damper assembly. Authorized KTM dealers will therefore apply threadlocker to the steering damper screw connection on affected parts.
As with other product recalls, KTM says this recall service will be conducted absolutely free of charge to the customer. You can locate your nearest authorized KTM dealer via the official KTM website.
If you are unsure whether the steering damper you have is affected by this recall, you can also contact your local authorized KTM dealer with any questions you may have, either about this part, this recall, or indeed anything else that comes to mind regarding your Super Duke R or Super Duke R Evo.
